Books and Books
Now playing: Jack Johnson - Good PeopleI'm reading a book. Don't blame me, its just something I do nowadays. Anyway, its a pretty good book, fun to read, etc. Its entertaining. I've never thought about it before, but books are just like movies. You have books, and you have books. You get your run-of-the-mill, book that tells a story, which can be entertaining, make you laugh, make you sad maybe, and probably have one or two little lessons to be learnt at the end of it. And then you have other books, where the actual story is secondary to the the book's very presence. There are movies like that too. People will disagree about what movies they may be, but I'd volunteer names like The Shawshank Redemption, Crash, American Beauty (Babel tried, but didn't do it for me). These movies/books just have their own power, and are in a completely different class. Sometimes I'm a little anal about this kind of thing, but I guess that there are different books to fulfill different desires, and its okay to enjoy both the profound type which leaves a lasting effect, and the other kind which brightens your day a little.

The Big Empty
Now playing: Pearl Jam - Alive (Live)I dont have much routine these days...I sleep early cause there isn't much to do at night, I wake up late because there isn't much to do in the mornings. Then I get up, check the sports news (don't even bother with the real news anymore - whats the point?), read a select few blogs, and then turn on the TV. So today I'm watching TV, and I come across this spectacle which I find...fascinating, and more than a little sickening. We all know what wrestling is. Its called WWE now apparently, although when I used to watch it as a kid about 8 or 9 years ago it was called WWF ... like many things, I cant seem to get used to the new name. Anyway, there was this match between this guy called 'The Great Khali' from 'The Punjab' apparently, and 'Ric Flair'. This Great Khali (which unless translates to something in Punjabi, seems to mean 'The Big Empty'...probably not an inaccurate description) is massive...and thats an understatement. He's 7'3" (2.21m), and 420lb (191kg)...which is insane. Hes about twice the weight of an average person. Hes fighting against this Ric Flair, who, at a 'mere' 6'1" (1.85m) and 243lb (110kg), looks like a midget next to this freak. And thats not even the worst bit...Ric Flair is 58 years old. He LOOKS older than 58, and hes having the crap beaten out of him by this deformed giant.I dunno, maybe as a kid I would've considered it entertainment. Conversely, maybe if I was a little less jaded to this kind of thing I would've been horrified and outraged gone into a rant about how these people should be role models for our kids and should be planting trees and taking care of pensioners and all that. But I dunno, I just find it interesting. I don't feel too strongly either way. Oh, there is one thing that scared me a little though. Apparently, before he became a 'professional' wrestler, he was an officer for the Punjab State Polica. Now THATS scary.-----I watched The Bourne Ultimatum the other day. I hadn't watched the previous two movies, but a friend called me up and said he had free tickets. Something about a VW promotion. Fair dos, I'm sure I can enjoy it without watching the other two. And I did. It was a good movie. I especially enjoyed the opening scenes in Waterloo Station - I've been in that station countless times, and it was kinda cool watching the whole scene. I also enjoyed the free popcorn and the free drinks ... I enjoyed them a lot. And repeatedly :D. And the free mug and t-shirt. I'll probably be in the Week actually, showing Oman just how much I enjoyed all the freebies ...Uh-oh.

Two more things. Firstly, the bit at the top where it says 'now playing'. If you click on that it'll take you to the artist's profile page on FoxyTunes, where you can find out more about em, videos, etc. I dont know much about it, but it seems like a pretty cool feature. Secondly, I'm thinking about changing my theme - much as I love this one, its getting old and I think I need something new. Not decided yet, but if anyone's interested in helping me out, let me know. There's milk n cookies in it for you! (maybe)
